CMD Rename

To rename all files and subfolders within a directory from the command line you'll need to go to the folder location  Press Win+R and type CMD Navigate to the directory you wish to rename the files/folders within Search for " how to use command prompt " if you're unsure List the contents of the directory by typing: Dir /W once there use the following command line where "xPrefix" is the naming prefix: FOR /F "tokens=*" %a in ('dir /b') do REN "%a" "xPrefix %a" This will rename all the files/folders within the directory with the prefix of "xPrefix " I.e. xPrefix filename.xxx xPrefix foldername NB : This will only rename the files and folders at  level the command line is executed from not subfolders/files

I've had a number of people asking me recently about using recently popularised Apps due to COVID-19 in personal situations. In my personal opinion, I would steer away from both Zoom and Houseparty in particular, use something that is tried and tested like Messenger , Hangouts , Facetime or WhatsApp and ensure they're up to date as the latter two have also had hacking issues in the past due to people not updating after identified security breaches. Both Apps are very popular at the moment and have had security and privacy concerns raised. Houseparty has been reviewed by security experts which have said: "it's probably safe". It has safe security options but it is up to the end-user to implement them correctly. COVID-19 Coronavirus v Technology Path

It's surprising what can instill business remodeling and push for changes in technology or an increase in an uptake. COVID-19 has had an extreme impact in our daily routines and has pushed towards a working from home in ways that would have taken years to become the norm.  Don't get me wrong we've been on our way there in the past few years with the developments onto cloud and SAAS solutions; on-line tools, integrations and deliveries; ICQ to Skype to a plethora of communication solutions. In the company I work for/with I've had to roll out a solution we've has available in a SAAS group but never pushed on as it was a convenience solution in place of face-to-face meetings primarily used for FIFO (fly-in-fly-out) clients that might have a limited schedule to communicate and not be in a convenient location. WIN 10 Wifi Issues (connected but no internet access)

Windows 10 seems to have a plethora of potential issues with wifi connections which can be frustrating and a waste of time. Most commonly the result of connected but no internet access Here are a few I've found that have helped me I'll list them in hopefully the most appropriate order: Local Network Mapping/Cached Annoyingly sometimes you can have an issue with DHCP and your MAC address due to an update. To get around this you can connect to a new wifi access point or network cable and perform updates Wifi Power Settings Press WIN + X Click on the "Additional power settings" link On the selected radio button select "Change plan settings" > "Change advanced power settings" Under "Wireless Adapter Settings" > "Power Saving Mode" reselect the setting to "Maximum performance0"
