Cyber Security Awareness: Understanding 001

Cyber Security is a broader subject and Going-Concern Risk than Employees and most Employers are aware of.

Cyber Security Awareness

Employees and employers most often believe that the IT Department "has a handle on it" but don't realise it's also their responsibility...

If you’re an employee, you are on the front lines of information security. Your company may have comprehensive cybersecurity policies for you and coworkers to follow. But even with these types of protections in place, it’s important to stay on guard to help assure your company’s data and network are safe and secure.

Cyber Security like "the Cloud" and "IoT" are terms or subjects that are broader than most people realise.

Because they're so broad people quite often misunderstand what they can encapsulate and ideally what they should know as a base understanding.

Yes Cyber Security does involve computers; software; servers and passwords but it also includes everything leading up to that for potential attack vectors such as:

  • PII (Personally Identifiable Information)
  • Social Engineering
  • Physical & Location Security
  • IoT
  • Web and Application Vulnerabilities

+ Some areas that traditionally have been the IT Department’s domain (Network Perimeter & Cloud Security)

Over a small series of posts, I’m going to talk about a number of these subjects and hopefully help anyone interested in reading this build a little more awareness in Cyber Security.
